CR is a safe place, you can take off your mask and be real and honest without fear. You are 100% in control of when and how much you share about your struggles.

Step 1. “We admitted we were powerless over our addictions and compulsive behaviors, that our lives had become unmanageable.”

Step 2. “We came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.”

Hurts. Hang-ups. Habits.

What if my struggles are not related to alcohol or substance abuse?

A hurt, habit or hang-up is anything that hinders your walk with God. The principles used in Celebrate Recovery can be helpful for all types of destructive behaviors, hurts, hang-ups and habits, and for people suffering from the consequences of the destructive behaviors of other people.

Step 3. “We made a decision to turn our lives and our wills over to the care of God.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect when I come?

Some communities gather for a community meal before the meeting. It is either potluck or there is a free-will offering to cover costs. The group decides what fits best.

What does CR meeting like look like?

A typical Celebrate Recovery meeting includes:

  • A large group meeting

  • An open share small group

  • Newcomers 101 (for your first week only)

Large Group is worship that is not specific to any tradition. It includes music, one of the 12-steps, celebrations, a testimony or lesson, and simple prayer.

What are Open Share Groups?

After the Large Group Worship, attendees attend Open Share Group(s) to dive deeper into your hurts, habits and hangups in a smaller setting. This is where you start. Open Share groups are gender specific and last 1 hour.

Open Share Groups will:

  • Provide a safe place to share your experiences, strengths and hopes with others going through the Principles in a Christ-Centered recovery.

  • Provide a leader who has gone through a similar hurt, hang-up or habit and will facilitate the group as it focuses on a particular Step/Recovery Principle each week. The leader will also keep Celebrate Recovery’s five rules (listed below). Which will be read aloud at the beginning of each group time.

  • Provide the opportunity to find an accountability partner or sponsor.

Open Share Groups will not:

  • Offer any professional clinical advice. CR leaders are not counselors. Approved counseling referrals are available upon request.

  • Allow its members to attempt to fix one another. :

What are Step Study Groups?

Step Study Groups are different that Open Share Groups. Step Study focus on the 12 steps rooted in scripture and faith. Groups meet on a separate night and typically last at least 6 - 9 months. New groups start every few months.

Does it cost anything to attend?

No. We do not charge for attendance at this ministry. However, our Celebrate Recovery ministry is self-supporting, which means that we do ask participants for a free-will donation to help cover our costs for dinner, books and other resources sold at the information table.

Is Celebrate Recovery confidential?

Absolutely Yes! Celebrate Recovery maintains strict Anonymity and Confidentiality. This promotes an atmosphere of trust and enables recovery. We are serious and diligent about protecting your Anonymity and Confidentiality! “What is said here stays here!” The Small Group Guidelines protect all of us from judgment and being fixed by someone in the group. Because CR is a safe place, you can take off your mask and be real and honest without fear. You are 100% in control of when and how much you share about your struggles.

Do I have to be a member of this Church to attend Celebrate Recovery?

No. You are not required to attend or be a member of the church, this church or any church. However, we strongly recommend that you search and allow the Holy Spirit to lead you to a church home, if you do not already have one. Celebrate Recovery is a ministry for anyone who is interested in a Christ-centered recovery program that will enable them to recover from life’s hurts, hang-ups, habits and addictions.

How does Celebrate Recovery differ from Alcoholics Anonymous?

Although Celebrate Recovery incorporates The 12 Steps, it does so with a distinctly Christian approach. We firmly believe and depend upon the miracle-working power of the Lord Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit in the process of recovery. We also address many more issues than just alcoholism. For instance, see this long list of Hurts, Habits and Hang-ups.

Does CR provide in-depth counseling or clinical therapy?

No. Although each of our group leaders has a caring heart, they are not equipped to offer in-depth counseling or clinical therapy. In the event this type of treatment is necessary, we would be able to refer you to a qualified Christian professional.

PRAYER FOR SERENITY

God, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time,
enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardship as a pathway to peace;
taking, as Jesus did,
this sinful world as it is,
not as I would have it;
trusting that You will make all things right
if I surrender to Your will;
so that I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with You forever in the next.

Amen. by Reinhold Neiburh
