Peace

Peace (pēs) (Merriam-Webster Dictionary)

1 a state of tranquility or quiet; b: a state of security or order within a community provided for by law or custom.

Peace (pēs) (Bible -2 Corinthians 13:11)

“Put things in order, respond to my encouragement, be in harmony with each other, and live in peace—and the God of love and peace will be with you.”

Put things in order. There is a structure to Peace, created in a specific order so that tranquility, quiet, and security co-exist. Creation itself is pulled out of the chaos and blessed with peaceful order. It is a Godly peace, from a Creator of order.

Right now, we witness the chaos, painful injustices waiting to be reassembled, not as they once were, but as they should be, in a Godly order. That is our task as believers, to not only pray for peace, but to restore order to the way it was intended. It takes effort, even protests when it is misaligned, but with persistence, vigilance, and a deep love of neighbor, we can live into the peace that is given to us by God’s perfect order and grace.

Live in the peace and the God of love and peace will be with you.
