A Guy called Peter

Peter- a fisherman-the rock, spontaneous, raw, human and unsure.

Gone Fishin’

It’s been a bad week of fishing despite all of the right gear.
Suddenly, a stranger calls out–“try over there.” And just like that– the nets are too full to lift! It is the same stranger who seems to appear out of nowhere  in the midst of our struggles.

Do you hear his voice? Do you trust him enough to cast your net into other seas?  It’s time to go fishing…

Sunday: EASTER

Mary….

It was just so personal, her Jesus, her Savior, her knight in shining aromour met her, found her, and called her by name.  Who was this one called Mary Magdalene and why did her relationship with Jesus destined her to become the first witness: I have seen the Lord!

Who Did You Expect?

It is the final entrance, the stage is set.

The crowd is excited, laying down palms branches at the feet of the one they hope will save them from…..what? Just who did you expect?

Follow the children this Sunday. Enter with the Palms and celebrate the arrival of the true Messiah.

According to Roosters

It was a defining moment, a chance for Peter to rise or fall.  How does one forgive a man like Peter who had a chance, but failed.

We also welcome 2 special children into our growing family through Holy Baptism and celebrate the Lord’s supper together.

When Google Isn’t Enough

 ‘Just Google it’….

What if Google isn’t enough? When life’s questions exceed our technology, where do we search for help?

Follow Jesus to a place ….without Google.

The People at the Table

The last meal Jesus ever ate was with his friends.

These were ordinary people brought together for an extraordinary purpose.  If only they knew what this meal would come to be?

Lying on the table is the broken bread and bitter cup–if they knew, would they stay?

The Peculiar Case of Zacchaeus

Zacchaeus was a wee little man, a wee little man was he….
We know the song, the short tax collector and his redemption. But what if we got it wrong?

We examine the truth about Zacchaeus

The Science of Gratitude

Gratitude: the moment you realize it’s not about you

Jesus met 10 people with leprosy begging for mercy. Jesus heals all of them, but only one returns to praise God.  Huh?

Lost in Plain Sight

From GPS to credit reports, how is it possible to ever be lost?

Yet, more then ever, people feel disconnected and invisible right in the middle of a crowd.

A message of hope found in the  Parables of the Lost.

Heart Surgery

The heart pumps almost 3 billion heartbeats in a lifetime
without a thought.

Yet, when it breaks, we break; holding back life or simply existing. Exhaustion overtakes us.
Healing a broken heart takes ‘heart surgery’ and a prescription
for a new life. Renew your inner heart with a prescription to remember your Baptism, cleanse your spirit and refresh your soul.

Let us live and not just exist.

Impact

Heaven pieced the earthly realm sending
the Prince of Peace to earth.

Scientists of the day studied the path of a coinciding celestial event, noting the coordinates before setting off in search of  a messiah king.  This was well predicted ahead of the impact, but evil lurks behind them.  Heroes wanted, especially now.

The New Year begins and so does the journey of a lifetime.

Joseph

He is one of the ‘good guys’ with plans for an orderly life.

So much for well made plans. God shakes Joseph’s world with an ‘interruption’, a child that is not his, but his to raise.  And that’s when heaven fills his world.

Our children also present, ‘Where is Christmas,’ during worship.

Mary

Ahh…the mystery of Mary.

Where did she come from? Why her? Why now?
Mary is fearful, then puzzled, but eventually accepting of her unconventional motherhood. Then, as she
waits for the birth of her messiah baby,  joy grows inside of her.

This Sunday, we celebrate Holy Communion and Mary, the mother of joy.

Christ for the Whole World

“The people walking in darkness have seen a great light…

“On those living in a pitch-dark land, light has dawned. You have made the nation great; you have increased its joy.”    Isaiah 9:2-3.

A BEAUTIFUL message through music; a Cantata service uplifting the Hope, Love, Peace and Joy of Christ in the world.

Where Are You Christmas?

Our souls are weary.

Life is hard, sometimes empty and even sad. We long for someone to save us and restore our hope, but joy of Christmas has disappeared.   Where are you, Christmas?

Mystery in the Sanctuary

Hidden between the sanctuary walls is a mystery waiting to be discovered.

It is the answer for what we seek, the peace to our uneasiness
and the hope for the people of all nations.  It is as ancient
as times, but as contemporary as today.

The King Returns

The beautiful temple lay in ruin,
filled with idols of false gods.

The voice of God fell silent.  Finally, the once mighty temple
doors were bolted shut.  Only a king could open them.
Who would save the people and the kingdom?

Ever Lasting

Now I lay me down to
sleep…if I die before I wake,
I pray the Lord my soul to take.

This is the prayer I said to my mom every night, along with
all the blesses of everyone and everything.  .What does it
mean to wake up to an ever lasting life? Well, through a
child’s eyes–it’s really cool.

Dethroning the Kingcrown

A long time ago, God was King,
but the people did not recognize God’s kingdom. They wanted what other nations had and demanded an earthly King, someone to lead them into victory, judge their problems, and keep them safe. They wanted what everyone else had…and then, God gave them what they wanted…
